The Golden Rule

It is pretty simple. We all learned it in kindergarten. Treat others how you would like to be treated. Why can't we grasp it?
We tend to focus so much on changing laws and creating new policies to effect the minds of people that we see as having incorrect views.  It is a bunch of paperwork that doesn't change the heart. You can tell people that they have to desegregate. That may not affect their close-mindedness. You can redistribute wealth. That has no bearing on their greed.
Its a matter of genuinely caring about the general welfare of others. We are here to build each other up and to grow together. I am no better than you. You are no better than me. My privilege has won me things that you may never have the opportunity for. And that's a serious problem. Our system is so messed up that differences in privilege and power will exist. We need to show love and work together to create an environment without such things. We need to treat others like we would want to be treated, standing shoulder-to-shoulder, facing forward.
